Why we exist

Families are smaller now. Children work far away, in Kathmandu and abroad. Too many parents are left alone in quiet houses. Shraddha Sadan believes every elder deserves to be cherished, respected and cared for with love, in a place that feels like home.

Our first resident

The day Ram Shova Thapa, 86, walked through our door.

She brought an infectious joy that set the tone for everyone around her. Even when her family takes her home for visits, she asks to come back, because this is where she feels at peace. She lives with us still, and she is part of the foundation of this home.

Family testimonials

What our families and visitors say.

The homely environment of Shraddha Sadan and the warmth of its staff are incomparable. I am happy with the care provided to my mother-in-law. I hope the same level of service and facilities will continue in the days to come.
Sarita NyaupaneDaughter-in-law of Indrakala Ghimire, Pokhara-30
The collective effort of Shraddha Sadan’s staff goes far beyond the bounds of duty. It is a testament to what happens when caregiving becomes a sacred act, grounded in empathy, fortified by experience, and guided by the belief that every elder deserves to live with respect, comfort, and joy. This win would not have been possible without the tireless devotion of exceptional individuals. Heartfelt thanks also go to Mrs. Kalawati Pokharel and Ms. Urmila Shrestha, whose tireless support and kind presence have been a source of strength not only for her, but for our entire team. A special note of appreciation also goes to Mrs. Menuka Chettri, whose depth of experience and empathetic approach have made a profound difference. Her attentive care and internal resilience have brought light back into my mother’s days. From the depths of my heart, on behalf of our family, I extend eternal gratitude.

I am very happy to see that this institution has been established to meet the needs of the elderly. It offers all necessary services and facilities in an elderly-friendly environment. This is a charitable organization founded by people with many years of experience in healthcare and social service. I believe that, in a short time, this institution will make a positive impact on society through its dedicated services. With its homely atmosphere and services based on social values, I am confident it will grow into a respected humanitarian organization. I offer my heartfelt respect to the entire Shraddha Sadan Pvt. Located in a peaceful setting with a good location, I believe Shraddha Sadan will succeed in winning the hearts of our elderly mothers and fathers. Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered.

Is Shraddha Sadan an ashram or a shelter home?

No. It is neither a nursing home nor an ashram. It is a Care Home, dedicated to the care of senior citizens.

What is the cost of residential and day care service?

The cost is determined by the health condition of the client and the services required. Before admission, our team visits the client at home, assesses their health condition, and explains the assessment result and the policy of our care home to the family, including the monthly fee and other costs. For details, please contact the Shraddha Sadan office.

What services are available for senior citizens at Shraddha Sadan?

We provide residential and day care services, available round the clock, all 7 days. We also provide respite care for those who need short-term service. Further, we have plans to start caregiver training, awareness programs and research focused on senior citizens.

Who looks after a resident if they are hospitalized?

The family and the care home together. The prime responsibility to look after the client during hospitalization goes to the family. In case of emergency, the care home will inform the family and will manage to take the client to the hospital.

Does the fee include medical and other needs?

No. The fee includes lodging and food, daily basic care, the weekly doctor’s check-up at the care home, outings and so on. Other costs, like hospital visits, medicine and personal items such as diapers, are the family’s responsibility.
